Implications for Teaching/Learning:
Students should become aware that internationally declared basic human rights are fundamental to all people. Each global issue needs to be viewed in the context of this priority.
The global is in the local. Local issues are no longer exclusively divorced from outside influence. For example, pollution respects no borders.
Global Issues affects everyone. Increased linkages through telecommunications and transportation informs citizens and governments of issues on a local and global scale.
Environment issues and sustainable living are key features of global learning.
Global understanding and global citizenship involves the nurturing of dispositions such as mutual respect, stewardship, justice, and a faith and willingness to work for an improved future.
