Welcome to the Department of Education web site for School Development in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

School Development is the mechanism by which we link school effectiveness and school improvement research literature and encompasses the concepts and activities associated with effective schools, school growth, school assessment, and school improvement initiatives. School Development refers to the processes and procedures involved in creating a School Development Plan designed to improve school living, student learning and achievement. It refers to the continuous growth and improvement of the school in a variety of dimensions. These dimensions include student and teacher learning, school culture, and relationships with the various stakeholders in education. The concept of school development assumes that no organization is ever at a standstill but is constantly developing in the pursuit of its purposes and in response to internal and external realities.

This web site will offer a variety of resources which can be used in the school development process.
